Abstract

Senior students in Health & Human Performance at Plymouth State University developed and implemented a community based participatory research project to assess the determinants of alcohol and drug use among PSU students. Through focus groups with current PSU students, and individual interviews with key stakeholders of this program, we were able to shine light on the cultural landscape around alcohol and drug use at PSU. Additionally, we analyzed best practices at other universities across the country, and gathered opinions across the PSU campus community. The ultimate goal is to use the results of this study to create a wellness program for students that targets and promotes healthy alcohol and drug behaviors.
