Challenge-Based Curriculum Workshop Part I, FYS Fellows Program
The First Year Seminar (FYS) Fellows took part in a workshop on Thursday, June 15 and Friday, June 16, 2017 with guest speaker Danielle Lake, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor of Liberal Studies at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Dr. Lake’s dissertation research centered on approaches to “wicked problems.” She specializes in problem based learning. This video is from the first day of the two-day workshop.
Fall 2017 saw the launch of Plymouth State University's reimagined FYS, using a challenge question to engage students in experiential learning and orient them to clusters. Dr. Lake's valuable insight was helpful to the FYS Fellows, who delivered their courses using this framework.
