Health & Human Enrichment Cluster
The aim of this project is to bring 27 nursing students in the NR 3054 course to the Center for Young Children and Families (CYCF) for two 4-hour sessions as part of their clinical rotation for pediatric health and wellness. Students will interact through play with children in each of the classrooms for ages 1-5. The project is cross-disciplinary between Nursing and Early Childhood Education. It serves the needs of the following stakeholders: CYCF with additional staffing and health information; the CYCF children with modeling and teaching for safety, hygiene, and nutrition; and the needs of nursing students by providing experiential learning about child development. This collaborative project was piloted in 2016 and repeated in Fall 2017 with overwhelmingly positive feedback from CYCF staff and nursing students.
