Exploration & Discovery Cluster
PSH is a physical record of taxonomically identified specimens, used to foster outreach with (and for) local students, professional researchers, and the New England community of amateur naturalists. Access to data contained within this collection enhances science education, research, and conservation efforts focused on plants and fungi of the White Mountains and Lakes regions of New Hampshire. The vision of PSH is to support the university in its effort to serve local New Hampshire and New England communities as a comprehensive institution of higher education that (1) meets evolving educational needs, (2) solves real-world problems, and (3) engages in public education and outreach. We propose to fully digitize the herbarium collection (~20,000 specimens) at PSU in order to achieve and sustain these efforts.
